Episode 1 of Your New Stepsister is a move-in scene in which DarkAngel presents herself as streamer, stepsister and self-declared “bringer of sin” while a stream of boxes goes up the stairs under her stepbrother’s arms. No one touches anyone, and the whole episode is voice and posture.

Her first instruction tells you who runs the house: look at her face, not elsewhere. Her mom told her this man would lend a hand with her things, and she takes that literally and then some, sending him up and down the staircase again and again. Each trip earns another line of approval.

The approval is the hook. He is a “good boy,” she tells him, and his strength is for her benefit, with a reward waiting once the last box is inside.
