Episode 1 of The Nun in Our Guest Room runs from the nun’s arrival, through a dinner where her compliments get suspicious, to a prayer where she requests a hands-on favor. It ends with the son reacting audibly to what she is doing, and the subtitles do not say what that is.

She arrives at Veronica’s door and is shown to the spare room, where she will sleep through Sunday. The son goes to welcome her, and she tells him he is gentler than the churchgoers she usually meets. It is a polite sentence with a sniff of invitation in it.

The meal is where the script tips over. She says the food tastes heavenly in her mouth, he answers that it was no accident, and the tone shifts from hospitality to flirtation. By the time they kneel to pray, she wants his help with being gentle using her hands and asks him to trust whatever the night brings.

Then the gasp. The final subtitle beat is his reaction to what her hands are doing, and the text gives no detail beyond that reaction. It is the closest the free pair comes to contact.

Alone with him, the nun quizzes him on whether the sounds from last night reached him. He denies it, she contradicts him, and that settles who is lying. Her explanation follows: Sunday’s vows will close the door on every experience she has skipped. The pressure of that deadline is her whole reason for coming on to him.

The close is a sly twist on the title scene. When she says this is what she was praying about, the prayer from episode 1 reads in hindsight as a plan.

What did he see last night?

The subtitles leave the night before vague. We learn only that she was heard and he was seen, so both the watching and the sounds are on record while whatever produced them stays offscreen.

Does episode 2 show sex?
